Hello! I'm Lorena.

I’m passionate about instructional and curriculum design because it’s more than just delivering content—it’s about creating meaningful learning journeys that spark curiosity, build confidence, and lead to lasting understanding. I love the challenge of turning complex ideas into engaging, accessible experiences that meet learners where they are and guide them to where they want to be.

To me, every project is a chance to design with purpose—to blend creativity, strategy, and empathy in a way that empowers people to grow. Whether it’s through interactive modules, microlearning, or scenario-based training, I see learning as a bridge: thoughtfully built, intentionally guided, and always centered on the learner’s potential.

Interactive Training Video
Storyboard

This project is designed for newly hired sales representatives at a large auto dealership. It introduces essential technical vehicle knowledge—engine performance, safety features, fuel options, and customization—that empowers new hires to confidently answer customer questions and close deals.

Built using an agile, learner-centered design approach, this module incorporates:

  • Microlearning principles

  • Scenario-based knowledge checks

  • Voiceover-guided animations

  • Simulated customer interactions

(Sample video to be uploaded shortly.)

Kirkpatrick's Assessment Model Sample

This project showcases a comprehensive evaluation plan based on Kirkpatrick's model. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of a company-wide training program aimed at equipping managers with the skills to deliver constructive feedback that improves employee performance and retention.

Grounded in Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation, the plan outlines a clear, step-by-step strategy for collecting data, measuring behavior change, and tracking business results—culminating in an ROI analysis to demonstrate value.

Sample Articulate 360 Beginner Course

In this course series, the learners acquire new Articulate 360 (Rise) skills by "exploring, creating, and sharing." Experimentation and hands-on learning activities are a key part of their learning journey.

The course is designed to be asynchronous, allowing the participants to work at their own pace. To provide additional support, Virtual Interactive Training (VIT) sessions are hosted.

Sample Video Created with AI

This video showcase was created using artificial intelligence or AI. AI-driven video creation can significantly streamline the production process, reducing costs and turnaround times. It allows for high-quality content generation at scale, enabling companies to produce consistent and engaging media without the need for extensive resources. AI can also personalize content to target specific audiences, enhancing viewer engagement and effectiveness.

By leveraging AI, corporations, educational institutions and nonprofits can stay ahead of trends, innovate, and maintain a competitive edge in the digital training landscape.

Sample Invitation to Collaborate: Post-Lesson Observation Discussion

Focusing on specific questions before a lesson observation discussion helps instructors reflect deeply on key aspects of their own teaching practice. It structures feedback, making it efficient and goal-oriented. After the session, a written list of enhancement recommendations is developed in collaboration with the instructor, with follow-up every week to support ongoing improvement.

Sample Project Kickoff Video

This sample Project Kickoff video offers several advantages when inviting stakeholders and subject-matter experts to collaborate:

  1. Engaging Introduction: It sets a positive tone for collaboration.

  2. Clear Objectives: It allows the training team to clearly outline the project's goals, scope, and expectations.

  3. Personal Connection: It conveys enthusiasm and builds a personal connection.

  4. Visual and Contextual Clarity: It demonstrates key elements of the project, making the content more memorable as it provides context that might be missed in written emails.

  5. Feedback: It promotes feedback by encouraging the stakeholders to fill out a Needs Assessment prior to the scheduled meeting.

  6. Buy-In: It generates excitement and buy-in from stakeholders and experts, and it helps secure their commitment and enthusiasm for the project.

Overall, a Project Kickoff video can effectively facilitate collaboration by providing clarity, building connections, and engaging participants right from the start.

Sample Mastery Assessment

This Mastery Assessment is an integral component of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) training designed for faculty members at a higher education institution. The primary objective of this training was to equip the faculty with the skills to effectively implement the CBE framework in their own courses.

In this module focused on technology, the participants were tasked with creating an online gallery at a CBE Virtual Museum. This project required them to showcase a diverse array of previously curated technology tools that they believed would enhance their CBE online classrooms. Each participant developed a gallery highlighting tools and resources that align with CBE principles, and upon completion, they shared their galleries with their peers for review and feedback.

The Mastery Assessment in this context provided faculty members with the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in integrating technology within the CBE framework. It served as a practical evaluation of their ability to select, demonstrate, and apply technological tools that support competency-based teaching and learning. This activity was uploaded to an Articulate Storyline file.

Sample Presentation on the Backward Design of Instruction

This is a presentation prepared for the faculty members at a higher education institution. The main aim was to introduce the Backward Design of Instruction so that they could start planning their competency-based training modules. The Backward Design of Instruction is a method where educators start with the end goals of learning in mind and work backward to develop instructional activities and assessments that align with those goals. This approach ensures that teaching strategies and assessments are directly focused on achieving desired learning outcomes, enhancing the cohesiveness and effectiveness of the instruction. The concept of alignment in this context refers to the consistent connection between learning objectives, instructional methods, and assessment practices, ensuring that each component supports and reinforces the others to maximize student learning.

Learning That Sticks (and Sounds Great!)

Ever noticed how a song lyric sticks in your head long after you've heard it? That’s no accident—music activates powerful memory pathways. I use this to my advantage in instructional design by weaving rhythm, melody, and lyrics into the learning experience.

The result? More engagement, better retention, and a whole lot more fun.
